These e-learning sessions deliver the basic knowledge and understanding of the 18 Week Patient Pathway. They are designed to be used by a variety of staff, including booking clerks, clinical coders, clinicians and commissioners, working across a wide range of organisations.

18 Week Patient Pathway imageThe NHS has made vast improvements in waiting times over the past few years. Feedback from patients, and other evidence, suggests 18 weeks is the length of time that patients see as an acceptable wait for non-emergency consultant-led treatment. The 2004 NHS Improvement Plan set out the idea for reform: "By 2008, no one will have to wait longer than 18 weeks from GP referral to hospital treatment."

These e-learning sessions are designed to deliver the basic knowledge and understanding of the 18 Week Patient Pathway to a variety of staff, including booking clerks, clinical coders, clinicians and commissioners, working across a wide range of organisations.

The aim is to assist all staff in getting to grips with the basics of this process through short interactive learning sessions that are useful and enjoyable!

Available on the National Learning Management System

Accessing the e-learning via the NLMS will enable NHS Trusts to record and monitor the completion of the e-learning for each user, as learning activity is linked to the individual's Electronic Staff Record.
