FAQs

What is happening?

Your e-learning project is moving from the old e-Learning for Healthcare (e-LfH) Learning Management System (LMS) to a new one.

Why is this happening?

The current LMS has been around for some time and both our requirements and those of the users have grown beyond the functionality available, so a new LMS was sourced that caters for our current and future requirements and this has been in operation for some time.

New projects have been launched directly on the new LMS for some time and the planning and preparation has been underway to move projects from the current LMS in order to decommission it and bring all the e-learning projects and users into one LMS.

When is this happening?

We are planning to migrate projects across in four separate waves. The first project will be ACUMEN, which is scheduled for March 22nd 2011. There is a countdown clock to the right of this page ticking off the days till it goes live on the new LMS. As soon as the other waves have firm dates, they will also be given a countdown clock and the dates published here.

What effect does this have on me?

When the migration happens, you will notice that when you select and launch your project, you navigate through some slightly different screens to get to your learning. These are all fully explained in the support section, however the learning itself will not change.

For some projects who are migrating in the first few phases, users will find that their learning history will be blank when starting the new LMS, however it will not be lost and in a short space of time a new reporting system will be available that will produce all learning history from both the old and the new LMS.

For projects migrating in the later phases, this will not affect users and the new reporting system with full learning history will be available from, or before, the day of migration.

Where will my learning history go? / What is the Data Warehouse?

The learning history for the current LMS remains on the current LMS and the history for the new LMS on the new LMS. To bring this together we have created a system called a Data Warehouse which pulls the data from both LMSs into one large system. This will pull the learning histories together, store them, and allow reports to be run providing a complete learning history for users.

This system is already in operation and is successfully storing data from both LMSs.

Where will I do my reporting?

For a period of thirty days both the old and the new LMSs will be available for you to run reports on. This will provide your entire learning history.

If your project is migrating in the early phases you will not yet have access to reporting through the Portal, the system you log into before selecting your project. If you are in the later phases of the migration you will have access to the Portal reporting.

The Portal reporting system will provide you with standard reports which will allow you to pull your learning history from the Data Warehouse, this is the learning history from both the current LMS and the new LMS, and so will be your complete learning history from when you first accessed your projects.

What do I do if I have problems?

Visit the migration hub and view the support pages and find help and answers to your questions, if you have further issues then you can contact support.
